On March 1, 2022, we did loading work for Paraguay in the presence of the Paraguayan Ambassador to Japan and Akishima Chuo Rotary Club members, who have supported this Paraguay project. The detail is from here.

  The ship with 90 wheelchairs left Tokyo Port on March 8, expected to reach Paraguay around May 3. Our long-term supporter, Ocean Network Express Pte. Ltd. (ONE), offered free marine transport as usual, to which the Ambassador of Paraguay expressed his gratitude. We’d like to say thanks to their continuous support too.

  This time we’re sending wheelchairs to our new partner, the Asunción Villa Morra Lions Club, which manages various medical institutions, such as pediatrics and ophthalmology, and moving clinics as well. The number of wheelchairs donated to Paraguay so far is to be 602, and the total number of wheelchairs donated to overseas children from our NGO is to be 9022, topping the nine thousand mark.   We started this project by cleaning and refurbishing the first few wheelchairs in November 2020. It has taken a year and a half since then to deliver all 90 wheelchairs to Paraguay. We’re glad to send them under the limited situation with the corona crisis. It is thanks to the support of many people, companies, and groups that we were able to carry out the project. We’re really grateful to your support.

  On March 1, 2022, we invited the Paraguay Ambassador to Japan for our activity of loading wheelchairs at the site of Tama Packing Co.. When we informed the Embassy of Paraguay of loading 90 wheelchairs for Paraguay beforehand, they told us that the Ambassador would like to come over for the activity. After sending off the truck, the Ambassador gave thanks to us by saying, “It’s so nice of you to keep sending your precious wheelchairs to Paraguay.”

  We’ve been working for the 90 wheelchairs for Paraguay since November 2020. At that time, we had to do refurbishing work only by a small number of people due to the corona crisis, so we asked our longtime partner, NGO Youth Support Center, to do some of the refurbishing work for us. It’s around October 2021 that we finally finished refurbishing all 90 wheelchairs.

  We expected the ship’s departure in the end of December as usual, but the confusion over container transporting across the world made it hard to save a ship. It’s February this year that we got news of ship arrangement. The Paraguay project has taken a year and four months from the start to ship’s departure. The ship is to leave Tokyo Port on March 8, and arrive at Buenos Aires on April 26.

  We’re sending wheelchairs to our new partner in Paraguay, the Asunción Villa Morra Lions Club, which is a group managing various medical institutions and moving clinics.

  To realize this project, we have received lots of support by Akishima Chuo Rotary Club, such as financial assistance, doing refurbishing work with us, and helping us load wheelchairs into the container. We are very grateful for their longtime support.

  We’d also like to express our gratitude to Ocean Network Express (ONE), which offered us free marine transport this time. ONE has supported us for years since it used to be Mitsui O.S.K. Lines. They also requested us to send daily goods to children in Paraguay. Many thanks, again!

  We have managed to fulfill the long-term project with the help of many people. I’d like to say thank you to the Ambassador, who came over to Fussa. The Ambassador’s visit did encourage us all and made me renew my determination to send wheelchairs to Paraguay.

  The ship with 95 undone wheelchairs and 2 used bicycles left Tokyo Port on February 27, expected to arrive at Port Kelang, Malaysia, around March 5. The total number of wheelchairs donated to Malaysia so far is 1608 with this transport included. Please refer to the donation record graph.

  The transport of undone wheelchairs for Malaysia follows the last one in August, 2021. This time we’ve sent smaller wheelchairs, mostly buggy-types, in response to the request of our partner, Mr. Syed. Like many other countries, Malaysia has become a car-oriented society and it’s compact cars that are widespread there. As for wheelchairs, too, smaller types are popular since they’re easy to fold and carry on the car. Also they make it easier for parents to receive by themselves, which will save Mr. Syed’s labor of distributing wheelchairs.

  We’ve sent two used bicycles to meet Mr. Syed’s request. He said he’s planning to connect a wheelchair with a bicycle, using it like a two-wheeled cart.

  Though the corona crisis is going on, we’d like to send wheelchairs to many overseas children in various ways. Thank you for your support in the future.

〇How we loaded wheelchairs into the container
  On February 16, we loaded 95 wheelchairs and 2 used bicycles into the container at the site of Tama Packing Co.. We’d never loaded 97 vehicles into the 20-foot container, but it was much easier than expected as most of the wheelchairs were smaller ones.

  It was in 2018 that we got so many paintings from overseas children showing their gratitude to people in Japan, who had offered to provide wheelchairs, cleaned or refurbished them. We carried all the paintings on our website at that time. Though it’s been quite a while since then, we’ve finally made a booklet of those paintings together with the children’s smiling photos.

  We’ve sent the booklets by mail to both individuals and organizations who have paid an annual fee or have made a donation to our NGO. As for online members, we’ve sent them by e-mail. We’d like everyone to enjoy both overseas children’s paintings and photos of their smiles.

    A Happy New Year!

  We have been delivering wheelchairs to overseas children for years. We’ve been trying to do our best to let those children who are left behind from society feel the joy of moving at will.

  While doing activities of sending wheelchairs, we made a request that they draw or paint a picture showing themselves on their wheelchair in their community. They sent us pictures in no time.

  Through their paintings we realized how dramatically their daily lives have changed into bright and joyous ones.We feel that the international exchange with overseas children has been promoted by sending wheelchairs and receiving paintings.

  It’s our great joy to make their paintings into a booklet and to get everyone in Japan who have provided their precious wheelchairs for us to see the booklet and realize how happy those children have become.

  It is a challenging time due to the new corona virus all around the world and we continue to try any possible means to send wheelchairs overseas. We intend to go forward with the help of your continued support.

  On December 23, we had an extra meeting with the help of TM Project Co., Ltd. staff members, who undertake a task of taking wheelchairs for us. What we did was putting our warehouse in order and packing buggy-type wheelchairs undone. To read more,,,

  On December 19, we had a final meeting in 2021. Today’s meeting was not for refurbishing but for having zenzai: thick, sweet soup of azuki beans. The participants were six members of Sagami Women’s University group. To read more,,,

  2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games were held from August 24 through September 5. At that time our NGO donated five wheelchairs to Vietnam Paralympic team(click here for details), to which we’ve got a letter of thanks in Japanese from the head of the team, Mr. NGUYEN HONG MINH. He is the deputy director of the Directorate General of Sports as well.

  The letter of thanks was handed over to our president, Mr. Morita, by Ms. Gwen, a member of Vietnamese group, at the mini-meeting in Haijima Warehouse, on December 12.

  It was through Vietnamese group who have been joining our activities that made it possible for us to donate wheelchairs to Vietnam Paralympic team. I’d like to say thank you for sending us this letter of thanks. I also feel happy that the Paralympic team members enjoy using our wheelchairs.

  On December 12, we had a mini-meeting with Sagami Women’s University group and Vietnamese group. One of the Vietnamese group members, Ms. Gwen, joined with her one-year-old daughter, which added to the friendly atmosphere in the meeting. To read more,,,
