On May 11, 2025, we had a monthly meeting with Sagami Women’s University group, Vietnamese group, Ethiopian group, Tama Technical High School group, general volunteers, and staff; 45 in total.
The large Vietnamese group was divided into two teams, working on wheelchair maintenance and preparing lunch. The air was filled with a delicious aroma even before noon, and everyone enjoyed a bowl of pho, spring rolls, and other Vietnamese delicacies.
Last month, we changed the destination to the Philippines, but as in the case of Indonesia, we were informed that they were not ready to accept the donation, so we decided to change it again. The new recipient is Mongolia, to whom we held a presentation ceremony in April, and we will continue to send wheelchairs as we did last year. The decision was based on the fact that we were able to confirm locally that our partner was ready to receive the next wheelchairs and that we wanted to avoid the harsh winter season for the shipment.
The sun was gradually shining and the temperature was rising, so we set up tarps and tents and encouraged everyone to drink water while we worked. Thanks to the fast working pace, we were able to finish packing 20 wheelchairs. Now that 44 wheelchairs are ready to Mongolia, we are aiming to ship them in July 2025.
